Swafford is best in NAC

JOHNSON, Vt. – For the second time this season sophomore Chance Swafford (Waterbury, Vt./North Country) has been named North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division Player of the Week. Swafford helped key a 3-0 week for the Badgers who have won four consecutive matches and nine of their last 11.

Swafford, a Psychology major, and the Badgers picked up wins over Castleton State (6-3), Green Mountain (7-0), and MCLA (7-2) last week as Swafford went 3-0 in singles action and 3-0 in doubles play. Swafford, typically playing at second singles, moved up to first singles for the Sunday non-conference tilt at MCLA and continued his strong season. Swafford and Ryan Joy (North Montpelier, Vt./U-32) has combined for 10 consecutive wins at first doubles as well.

For the season Swafford is 9-7 in singles play, 4-1 in the NAC, and is 10-4 in doubles action.

Swafford and the Badgers (9-7, 4-1 NAC) will play this weekend as the #2 seed in the North Atlantic Conference East Division Tournament hosted by #1 seeded Colby-Sawyer College (7-11, 5-0 NAC). Johnson face-off with the #3 seed Thomas College Terriers (5-6, 3-2 NAC) whom they beat twice during the season by the score of 7-2
