Greg Davis and Emily Himberg have received student-athlete of the week for participating in the recent annual Student-Athlete Leadership Forum .

This Leadership Forum is designed for student-athletes to discuss key issues collectively and provide an opportunity to enhance leadership skills needed to promote their development on campus.

BM: What captured your enthusiasm to attend the Leadership Forum?

GD:  What captured my enthusiasm to attend the Leadership Forum was the opportunity to meet new people and to learn new things. Also something good to add to my resume and the fact that out of many athletics over the world I was one to be chosen.

EH: The fact that Greg and I got to represent our college at a conference with over 400 athletes from all over was exciting.

BM: What is your major?

GD: Health Science

EH: Physical Education

BM: What are your plans after graduation?

GD: I want to be an athletic trainer, but after this conference, I have been thinking about looking into being an athletic director as well.

EH: Hopefully to become a physical education teacher and coach, or if not something to do with kids and making a difference in their lives.

BM: What was the most important thing you learned at the Forum that you plan to bring to Johnson?

GD: I learned that there is different ways to lead and people lead and learn differently. I also learned how to be open to change the way I lead in perspective of different people. Most of all the platinum rule: treat others how they want to be treated.

EH: That we are lucky to be college athletes and play the sports we love with the people we care about. We are all different in daily lives but we have a common goal and that is to achieve something in life we are passionate about.

BM: What excites you about playing sports at Johnson?

GD: I love how brotherly my team is and how the community of JSC represent each other. When I first got here the JSC athletics wasn’t getting a huge crowd; however, now it’s getting better and it is exciting to be a part of a ground building program. As others will say “started from the bottom.”

EH: That you get to represent your college and teammates. Get to show off hard work you put in during off season and regular season.

BM: Who do you play for in your heart?

GD: I play for all my friends and family that didn’t have the chance. I lost a lot of people in my life which motivate me to work and play hard.

EH:I would say my teammates, we all put in effort to have a winning season, only fair that I put in my best effort and play games with no excuses.
