Brittany Robertson finished with 15 points, two rebounds and two assists in a narrow 74-73 loss against Pine Manor College Sunday afternoon at Johnson’s Carter Gymnasium. But the final score was secondary to Robertson’s statistical victories.

The Burlington, Vt., junior gave her fans ample reason to cheer during Sunday’s game, going 4-4 from 3-point land and consequently, smashing through a Johnson State College women’s basketball record in the process. Robertson now holds the record for most 3-point shots at 171 total, surpassing Amanda Burby who previously held the record of 168.

Robertson continued her shot and netted her 1,000th point shortly after securing her place in the Johnson record books. The contest was stopped briefly as Robertson received congratulations from her teammates and heard the cheers from family and friends.

“I’m proud. I almost have no words,” said Robertson. “I’m glad it happened during a home contest because I couldn’t have done this without my team, my coaches or my family,” Robertson continued, “This is very exciting, but I’m also really looking forward to the rest of the season with my team. We’re working so well together, I know we’re going to finish strong.”

Robertson’s coach, Greg Eckman, said he couldn’t be more proud of his player. “Brittany works hard and is an integral part of this team. I can’t even express how happy I am to have shared these milestones with Brittany,” Eckman continued, “Her family and friends know how hard she works and this is a great example of how it can pay off.”
