On Sunday, February 22nd, 2014 three brave cross-country skiers from Johnson State College participated in the 69th Annual Stowe Derby in Stowe, Vt.

The event is the oldest cross country ski event in the nation. The legendary race begins at the top of Mount Mansfield, runs 12 miles and descends about 2,600 feet to finish in the village of Stowe.

Johnson men’s cross country runner, Steven Lamonde, finished 62nd overall and fourth in his age division. Head athletic trainer Jackie Walsh and director of the SHAPE, Wendy Velander made it across the finish line as well.
