Johnson State College women’s soccer was defeated by Husson University in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) quarterfinal game Monday night at Thomas College.

The game, twice delayed, was played at Thomas due to unplayable conditions in Bangor, Maine home of the Eagles. Husson advances to the NAC semifinals while Johnson State will wrap up the season 8-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in conference action.

In the 21st minute, Mollie Roy was in the box and looking to convert but was fouled. Desir’ee Hamler calmly took the kick and placed a beautiful shot in the upper left hand corner to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.

In the 85th minute, Leah Hibbad took a corner kick and placed right on the foot of Brooke LaBelle who placed the ball in the corner to seal the deal.

Jess Poulin made three saves for Husson while Amber McCullock made eight for Johnson State.

The Badgers conclude a strong season and look ahead to an even stronger one next year.
