Hornets best Badgers

Lyndon took down Johnson with a 76-60 victory on Saturday, Jan. 31 in North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball action. With the victory, Lyndon moves to 3-8 in the NAC and 5-14 overall while Johnson moves to 5-6 in league play and 5-12 overall.
The first half saw Lyndon’s offense take charge as they came out and took a 9-0 lead. Emily Gray led the Hornets with 18 points while Kasey DeGreenia led the Badgers attack with 13 points.
Lyndon was 15-31 and shot 48 percent from the field in the first half while Johnson went 12-35 and shot 34 percent. The Hornets went into the half with a 37-30 lead.
Lyndon had a rocky start to the second half, turning the ball over on five of their first six possessions and giving up nine straight points, finding it trailing in the game for the first time. Maloney remained faithful in his team’s abilities.
Lyndon then went on an 11-0 run to take a 50-39 lead and would not look back. Johnson would get within four with 7:29 remaining in the game but found itself in foul trouble. The Hornets made a flurry of free-throws in the final six minutes of the game to seal the victory.
Lyndon’s next game will be this Tuesday, Feb. 3, when they host Green Mountain College. That game gets underway at 7:30 p.m., while Johnson will host Castleton at the same time on Tuesday for their second match-up of the season.
