Aither Scores Four as Badgers Down Newbury

BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Johnson State College women’s soccer team defeated Newbury College 4-1 in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon, Sept 10. Kylie Aither (Hyde Park, Vt.) scored four goals to bring her season total to nine in the win.

 

SCORING

1st Half: Aither led off the game with a goal two minutes in, finishing top corner on a feed from Katherine Fish (Lake Elmore, Vt.) to give Johnson (3-1) the 1-0 lead. The Badgers doubled their lead in the 37th minute when a bad clearance attempt by Newbury (0-4) allowed Aither to tap the ball in for her second of the game.

 

2nd Half: Newbury cut the Johnson lead to one four minutes into the second when Shannon Walsh scored on a feed from Natasha Simon. The Badgers answered back in the 61st minute when Fish assisted on another Aither goal. Aither made it a 4-1 game when she scored a goal assisted by Leah Egnaczyk (Schenectady, N.Y.).

Kaila Lemmer (Barnard, Vt., 3-1) stopped four of five shots to earn the win. Mia Blackwell (Eastham, Mass.), relieved her in the 78th minute and made one save. Noelle Sass (0-4) gave up for goals on 16 shots and was given the loss.
