New campus lights and poles should aid winter navigation
Work on enhancing outdoor lighting on campus continues as six new poles have been installed in several places on the main campus during the past few weeks. In addition upgrades to existing installations continue as part of an ongoing project.
The lighting project started last year with the switch to LED bulbs in some existing lights. “They are more environmentally safe,” says Dean of Administration Sharron Scott,” noting they are also a little cheaper than the old bulbs.
The purpose of installing new light poles and bulbs is to brighten up some darker areas on campus, according to Scott. “It seemed dimmer in places.” she said, adding that the improvements should make winter navigation safer. “You will be able to see where the ice patches are,” she said.
