Benefit set to raise money for local woman

Julie Longley-Gillen is sick, and she needs your help.

On Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8, at 4:30, a series of events will be held to benefit Longley-Gillen and her family at the Lamoille County Field Days Harlow Hall. According to event organizers, any amount of financial aid would help them. A dance and full dinner are being offered.

Longley-Gillen, a Lamoille county native who lives in Eden, has been diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type II, a very rare nerve disorder.

Among the symptoms caused by this disease is the growth of tumors in the spinal region, and expensive surgery is required.

Medical expenses to treat this condition are considerable, and it is hoped the community will step forward to help defray the costs.

A benefit auction will take place concurrent with all of the other events.

If you are unable to go, but would still like to make a donation, a fund has been set up for her at the Community National Bank under “Longley-Gillen NF Fund.”
